Parita-Parikamma
1. | Samantā cakkavāļetu, atragacchantu devatā; saddhamma¸m munirājassa, su¸nantu saggamokkhada¸m. | May the deities of all the world systems assemble here and listen to the Sublime-Dhamma of the Great Sage (the Buddha) which confers the bliss of heaven and deliverance (Nibbana) |
2. | Dhammassavana-kālo aya¸m bhaddantā. | O good friends, this is the right time to listen to the Doctrine. |
3. | Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammā sambuddhassa. | Homage to the Blessed One, the Exalted One, the Fully-Enlightened One. |
4. | Ye santā santacittā, tisara¸nasara¸nā, ettha lokantarevā, bhummā bhummā ca devā, gu¸na-ga¸na-gaha¸na, byāvatā sabbakāla¸m. ete āyantu devā, varakanakamaye merurāje vasanto, santo santosahetu¸m, munivravacana¸m, sotumagga¸m samaggā. | Those virtuous ones whose mind is peaceful, who have taken refuge in the triple gem, living here in this world or in other universes; those celestial beings living on this earth or living on other than this earth, who are always anxious to obtain various virtues; or those of celestial beings who are residing on Meru, the king of mountains which is made of excellent gold, and all virtuous celestial beings may they come here in unity to listen to the noble words of the Great Sage (the Buddha, which are the way to peace and happiness. |
5. | Sabbesu cakkavāļesu, yakkhā devā ca brahmano; ya¸m amhehi kata¸m puñña¸m, sabbasampatti sādhaka¸m. | The demons, the deities, and the Brahmas in all the ten thousand universes, may they rejoice in whichever meritorious deeds we have done for the accomplishment of all enjoyments. |
6. | Sabbe ta¸m anumoditvā, sammaggā sāsane ratā; pamādarahitā hontu ārakkhāsu visesato. | Having rejoiced in this merit, may all of you be united and be happy in the Dispensation, and may all of you be not negligent especially in the duties of protection (of human beings). |
7. | Sāsanassa ca lokassa, vu¸d¸dhi bhavatu sabbadā; sāsanampi ca lokañca, devā rakkhantu sabbadā. | May there always be prosperity in the Dispensation as well in the world, may all deities always guard the Dispensation as well the world. |
8. | Saddhi¸m hontu sukhī sabbe, parivārehi attano; anīghā sumana hontu, Saha sabbehi ñātibhi. | May all beings together with your own retinues be happy. May all beings together with their own relatives be free from pain and happy minded. |
9. | Rājato vā, corato vā, manussato vā, amanussato vā, aggito vā, udakato vā, pisacato vā, khanukato vā, ka¸n¸da-kato vā, nakkhattato vā, janapadarogato vā, asaddha-mmato vā, asandiţţhito vā, asappurisato va, ca¸n¸da-hatti-assa-miga-go¸na-kukkura-ahi vicchika-ma¸nisappa-dipi-accha-taraccha-sukara mahimsa-yakkhā-rakkhasādīhi, nānā-bhayato vā, nānā-rogato vā, nānā upaddavato vā, ārakkha¸m ga¸nhantu. | May you take care in protecting them from the dangers of tyrants, robbers, human enemies, inhuman beings, conflagration, flood, demons, tree-stumps, thorns, evil planets, local epidemics, law-breakers, heretics, impious men, and from the dangers of wild elephants, horses, beasts, bulls, dogs, serpents, scorpions, copper-headed snakes, panthers, bears, hyenas, boars, buffaloes, ogres and devils and so forth; and also from the dangers of various fears, various diseases and various disasters. |
