Aung San Su Kyi should stay away from ex-generals
There was
speculation that Aung San Su Kyi would run in the 2012 by-elections. It is
unacceptable. This is just entrapment of quasi-government. The government
offers her to run in by-elections. The question is why she was not offered when
they held national general election in 2010. She was under house arrest and
many other high profile opponents such as student leaders, ethnic leaders and
leader of Shan ethnic Khun Tun Oo were in prison. They held general election
without opponents who were imprisoned.
It is a
part of trying of regime government to be legitimacy. If Aung San Su Kyi
becomes a part of their machinery, the global pressure can be release. On the
other hand it will be more difficult to change 2008 constitution. Without
changing 2008 constitution, any government cannot be democratic. Now she is 66
years old and she does not have enough time to do so before she die. The only
way that she must do is to change constitution by staying away from them.
She should
be strong leader of opposition groups. I believe that all the opponents will be
weaken and silent when she will be in parliament. She also can’t speak freely
and loudly as before.
