Inscription on the Man-Made Cave of Victory.

Weizzar Sayadaw Bhaddanta Uttamakyaw.
The accomplishment of long life prolongation by undergoing the transformation by fire
on the man-made Cave of Victory.

During the time of U. Saw Maung the Chairman of the State Law and Order Restoration Council on the Friday the 24th of February 1989 A.D. (4th day waning Moon, the month of Tapodwe 1350 M.E.) at 10:55 p.m., there was a loud explosion coming from this Cave of Victory, the words "by the Blessing of Buddha Victory, Victory" echoing in the vicinity. That was when the Weizzar Master Ashin Uttamakyaw became victorious by gaining longevity of life by undergoing transformation by the fire process.

He was born and given the name Maung Utta to U. Thauk Kyar and Daw Thin Si who lived in Myo Lulin village of Taungdwingyi township in the year 1453 A.D. (815 M.E.). He was to become the master of two Kings, King Mingaung the second of Inwa period and King Narapati of Bagan. He learned all the Tipitaka text by heart and he could defeat in debate Kondaw Naung Kyar Ban of Bagan and was successful even in The Sangha committee (Wi-neitsa) office. He was famous as Ashin Uttamakyaw. He was one of the four Monks and four Palms of history and the King of Inwa begged him to live in the capital but he refused and went into the forest to meditate in a bamboo hut. He passed away at the age of 89, monk's life 69, in 1542 A.D. (904 M.E.) in the Natmeelin Monastery of Taungdwingyi town.

Actually U. Uttama master, Sayadaw U. Pandita has taken away all physical aspects of U. Uttamakyaw to Nagama at the time of entering his Weizzar life at 447 years. Although he has not lived to the full life of Weizzar yet, at the age of 536 and at the time of good planetary positions and with eighty-seven supporters in attendance he went into the transformation by fire. At the time according to the direction of the Weizzar Sayadaws, the Saturday born Sanathar Sayadaw U. Tillaw Keinda had thrown the ignition bar from the eleven inch wide hole at the western side of the man-made cave, and the explosion half removed the roof and pushed the walls apart leaving gaps over a foot wide. By the Blessing and Glory of the three Gems and the Loving-kindness (Mett?) of the Sayadaw's no one was hurt, but U. Tillaw Keinda (Abbot of Aungtawmu Monastery) was brushed by flames and hit by a falling brick so he lost consciousness until the turn of Saturday, ten minutes past midnight. Dr Sein Yi and Dr. The Myat cared for him commencing at 11 p.m. that night. With a time separation of twenty minutes U. Khin Maung San form Mandalay, Lt. Col. Thein Dan of Yangon and Dr. Sein Yi shouted "Victory for the transformation by fire of Sayadaw," and threw in one precious medicine bar each to Bhaddanta Uttamakyaw Sayadaw.

The four Sangha members including the Thayarwady Sayadaw and fourteen supporters were the Guardians of the medicine bars; the Guardians of the keys were U. Hla Bu and U. Khin Maung San of Mandalay; and the Guardian of the Drum was Mayor Zaw Win. All eighty-seven supporters were there.

Sunday the 23rd of April 1989 A.D. (3rd waning day, the month Tagu, 1351 M.E.) at 8 p.m. the Sayadaw emerged from the iron door of the cave of victory and preached a teaching of attaining Nibb?na to the many disciples who had gathered to welcome him and thus complete the ceremony. Then he left for the Nagama Mountain where the Head Master Sayadaw U. Kowida resides.
